FAQ
- Why do you breed on their second or third heat?
This gives their bodies time to develop and mature (physically, mentally and emotionally) Allowing her to mature also increases the chance that she is a present and maternal mother.
Did you know their first heat cycle is at 6 months old?
They are babies themselves and breeding this early huge red flag- no responsible breeder should ever do this.
- Is pet insurance important?
YES! YES! I cannot stress this enough. All of our babies go home with a 30 day Trupanion trial, but I do encourage you to research other companies and see what their deductable is and coverage. This is mandatory for my adopters to have for their dogs, the cost of veterinary medicine can be astronaumical and we don't want money to be the difference between life or death!!!

- Where do you keep the puppies?
As mentioned, our pups are raised in our home and monitored 24/7. Our laundry room is on the main floor, right off of my kitchen and their set up is there. I am home to monitor and care for them full time. When required, their set up is temperature and humidity regulated with a hepafilter and I adjust the set up as they grow. You will be able to watch on our social media!
We just moved, so our set up will be ready for Spring 2025.
- What additional care do you provide that is so different?
Being a veterinary nurse with vast rescue medicine experience, I am very keen on neonatal health and weaning. Knowing the various values for temperature, weight, heart rate, dehydration status, reflexes, signs of stress, signs of pain or discomfort, and even stomach capacity for tube feeding all benefits my litters.
I always supplement my pups starting at week 3 with esbilac with some puppy mousse blended in, sooner if any have weight discrepencies to allow for more uniform growth. This gives mum a break, she deserves it! Warm cloth bum wipes are also called for to help mum with clean up- just because they can do it alone doesnt mean they have to ❤️
- Are English Show Cocker Spaniels high maintenance?
100%, from their ears to their toes, daily grooming is required to keep them clean and comfortable. Their coat is long and soft, brushing often is needed to prevent matting.
Shaving is not requred but regular trimming of the feathers around their legs, under their belly, around their bum/peepee and feet helps keep them tidy. They get wet outside easily and often bring in a small forest in their fur- they are true adventureholics.
These pups require 1-2 hours of activity minimum daily and should be longer a few times per week, in addition regular training and enrichment should be offered. They are exceptionally smart and eager dogs, fast learners and food motivated making training a breeze.
- What diet do you feed your dogs?
There is so much controversey with diet, I ended up feeding a diet that both works for my dogs gastrointestinal systems and with an ingredient list with more whole foods. Our primary diet fed is Acana Wholesome Grains for Puppies and my adults are on Open Farm Turkey and Ancient Grain. I find this protein source they do great on, over chicken based diets that seem to contribute to ear and eye gunk in many breeds so I avoid this for potential allergy reasons. Royal Canin Hypoallergenic HP is a great diet to consider if your dog has allergies and you can't seem to find anything else, they also love it*
With the changes of Acana and Orijen, I will update this section if we continue this diet for our puppies, otherwise Open Farm is my next option to try, with grains.
