Julius Rose English Cocker Spaniels is a small, dedicated family breeding program based in Canada. Our focus is simple: to raise healthy, well-tempered English Cocker Spaniels while bringing thoughtfully selected European bloodlines from Hungary into Canada. Our dogs are first and foremost beloved members of our family. Every breeding decision is made with their long-term health and wellbeing in mind. We prioritize reducing COI% (Coefficient of Inbreeding) to maintain a strong and diverse genetic pool, and all of our dogs undergo comprehensive breed-specific health testing. This includes OFA Hips & Stifles, BAER hearing testing, thyroid screening, Brucellosis testing, annual 4DX Accuplex screening, and Embark veterinary genetic testing. Preventative care and wellness are at the heart of everything we do. From proper nutrition and enrichment to thoughtful early socialization and attentive daily care, our goal is to raise confident, healthy dogs that thrive both physically and emotionally in their future homes. Our love for the English Cocker Spaniel runs deep. While we are not currently active in the show ring, our dogs are CKC registered and carefully bred with the goal of preserving the beauty, temperament, and health of this wonderful breed. The kennel name, Julius Rose, holds a very special meaning to our family. It was chosen in honour of my late father, Julius, who was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1951 and passed away in July 2020. His Hungarian roots are reflected in our carefully selected European bloodlines, and his memory continues to inspire the care, dedication, and love we put into every dog we raise. Our Puppy Raising Philosophy Raising puppies is about far more than simply providing food and shelter. Our goal is to give every puppy the best possible start in life through thoughtful care, enrichment, and early positive experiences. From the very beginning, puppies are raised in our home environment where they receive daily handling, gentle socialization, and exposure to normal household sights and sounds. Early enrichment helps build confidence, curiosity, and resilience — important qualities for family companions. We focus heavily on wellness and preventative care, ensuring puppies grow with proper nutrition, routine health monitoring, and appropriate developmental support. Early experiences with grooming, handling, and new environments help prepare them for a smooth transition into their future homes. Temperament is also extremely important to us. English Cocker Spaniels are known for their affectionate, cheerful nature, and we work to preserve those wonderful breed traits through careful pairing of our dogs and attentive early development. Our goal is to raise puppies that are not only healthy and beautiful, but also confident, adaptable, and well-prepared for life as beloved family members.

Health & Genetic Testing
Health and longevity are at the foundation of our breeding program. At Julius Rose English Cocker Spaniels, we believe responsible breeding means looking beyond appearance and focusing on the long-term wellbeing of every dog we produce.
Each of our breeding dogs undergoes extensive health screening recommended for English Cocker Spaniels. This includes:

Genetic testing allows us to screen for breed-specific conditions and make informed breeding decisions that support healthier generations. No Kennel Life
Our dogs are family and are kept in our home, including our puppies. We do not subject our dogs to outdoor environments away from the family. We have playtime outside together but, they all get to come inside with me, they wouldn't have it any other way! I will also NEVER use bedding such as wood shavings or paper. We do litterpan /pee pad train pups and start going outside depending on weather at 6 weeks old. Puppies are potty trained from a young age & have a comfortable, clean bed as soon as they are ready. They are kept in a large playpen set up for safety in our home. Our cockers favourite things to do include going to the local park to play fetch & sniff, running the perimeter to explore, or going on hikes on local trails. Spur Brothers (a local farm) is another great time, the girls love to sniff around & the props for photos are a must. The valley offers many scenic trails for us and our dogs to enjoy all year round. We do highly recommend crate training for safety, independence, confidence and more. This is for when you leave them unattended until they can be fully trusted loose in the home.
Professional and Experienced
Enjoy thorough support for your family and your new puppy! Discussions can vary but may consist of nutrition, behaviour, grooming, training, resources & vaccines/prevention, and pet insurance. Triaging is also available at any time, get an answer to your concerns fast or help with a condition your pet is experiencing, working with your local vet! Puppies are handled daily, socialized from the appropriate age and shown various enviornmental stumuli to prepare them for the big world! Each puppy will have their own Apptitude test filled out. KC Registration & Contract
All of our puppies with be CKC registered and sold only on non breeding contracts. Your puppy's registration will be provided upon proof of spay/neuter by 6-8 months of age. Please see the paperwork package provided for additional information. Please note I do not dock tails I have created a unique imported bloodline from Hungary & Serbia. Producing unique colour variations including chocolate, sable, red/orange/blue roan and tri colour with white (Parti). We are unlikely to produce any solids at this time. I choose from Champion show European bloodlines with both health and behavioural soundness in mind when choosing pairs to produce the best family companions. Their parents and grandparents, as well as great grandparents were all shown in the ring. Lineage, health testing results and dna testing will be provided to all families upon interview. We do not list this online due to puppy scammers stealing information.

Puppy Adoption Process

Step 1
Please email me and express your interest. Be sure to include any information about your dog experience, lifestyle and location. Use our contact me form, or use my info provided below. Please TEXT OR EMAIL only for contact. Once in touch, and we have confirmation for pregnancy, we will be in touch to continue discussing further to better prepare you for your new addition via email or whats app chat. I reserve the right to refuse to adopt my dog to you if I feel it is not a suitable placement for them. Our homes are interviewed and approved. I only place my puppies in Canadian homes at this time. Step 2
Once the litter has arrived, we will be contacting our puppy waitlist members in priority sequence. A phone call /video call interview will also be conducted along with a questionnaire. You will also be informed of the due date and kept in the loop. A non refundable deposit towards your puppy will be required at this time. Once we have your deposit your puppy will be on hold for your family and you will get personalized updates via WhatsApp or email! I am happy to answer any questions you have continuously until your puppy is ready to go home.
Step 3
Have your puppy transported to your location once they are minimum 9 weeks of age, or come to our home in Middleton Nova Scotia to meet, and pick up your new family member. Not sure what is best? Don't worry we will disucss this as well I also offer board and train for 7-10 days for puppy foundations via Valley Pet Medic The adoption process for our puppies includes providing all necessary documents before collecting final payment (Etransfer or Bank Wire), presenting a comprehensive breeders contract including health testing and lineage.

Upcoming Litters

Mabel will have her first litter approximately Summer 2026. Interviews and further discussions will take place with serious candidates only once we have pregnancy confirmation. When born, we will confirm homes and begin the interview process and by 4 weeks of age, we will take deposits and confirm placements. I do not like to take deposits prior as we cannot guarantee the puppy sex/colour you are looking for. Colours listed on our application form are anticipated colour patterns from our pairing.
